Plus 9 (only 8 are called-for), large folding maps, all printed with additional colours, drawn by the Public Works Department of Iraq and printed by the firm Waterlow of London. Plus tinted frontispiece plate. Decorative half-title. Appendix with notes on travel in Persia. Includes bibliographical references. Hardcover, bound in the original publisher’s handsome crimson cloth, gilt lettering to upper cover. In fine condition (ownership signature on title-page).

- - First edition. This unrecorded copy includes an additional, 9th map, not called-for in the index and not present in any other known copy. Not KVK, not COPAC, nor OCLC list a similar copy. The additional map is identical in style to the rest, and similarly bears the “Iraq Public Works Department” cartouche. It was, however, printed in Baghdad, and bears the legend: “Heliozincographed at the Survey Directorate, Baghdad”. The map is a sketch plan of the Arbil-Rowanduz-Rayat road, and shows in great detail (1 inch=4 miles) the complicated route from Arbil (68 miles from Kirkuk) to Rayat, 6 miles from the Persian frontier. The first 70 miles of the Arbil-Rayat road were formed, and partly metalled, on April, 1930, with the exception of one unfinished bridge at Mile 67. Few minute marginal nicks to the largest map. A handsome, well-preserved, unrecorded copy.
